With the early May showers this season I was inspired to choose a blue and yellow palette. Each can be powerful colors. I chose a bright yellow with gold tones and a deep navy for balance. This palette is perfect for any time of the year, whether it be football fans celebrating their union in the fall or sailors tying the knot during the summer. It's a versatile color palette with white and yellow floral in season nearly all year long.

Mint Green and Yellow Vintage Inspiration for bridebook

This board and colors were inspired by vintage milk glass vases. Mint green and white vases with spring hued yellow and white flowers turned into a vintage inspired board.

Take the color theme to the layers of your cake (#1), invitations (#2) earrings (#8), and even the accents on your dress (#6).

To add texture to the bright colors add a patterned table cloth (#4) or choose a lovely lace dress from Jim Hjelm (#3) and consider details like chevrons in the invitation’s envelopes (#2).

Send guests homes with mint green hued and mint flavored macaroons for a fun and trendy treat.

I was inspired by Fenton Glass, the historic glass factory  in Williamstown, WV for this inspiration board. As noted on pinterest, the mason jar trend is moving towards decorative milk glasses (white floral vases) and other colored glass.

I love the particular colors of white and mint green for milk glasses and yellow and white flowers make a beautiful, vintage combination. To stick with the theme pick yellow or mint bridesmaid dresses and send your guests home with trendy mint macaroons!

Caramel Love as Seen on the WV Weddings Blog

 

Planners Palette Post

When September comes around I can't get three things off my mind: caramel apples, cider, and caramel corn, so it was natural (and very fun) to search for wedding ideas to celebrate the beginning of fall and all the great food and traditions that come with the season.

I chose, of course, caramel as my main color and then orange, dark brown, and mustard yellow as accent colors. Pumpkins, dahlias, acorns, roses, and even caramel apples can all grace table settings for cute fall décor.

Celebrate with some hard cider, caramel cake, and send your guests home with paper bags of caramel corn. It's a sweet wedding no one is soon to forget.

Friday Favorite: Blue and Gold (Yellow)

With West Virginia Football in full swing, it feel it's only appropriate to develop a board inspired by the colors I bleed during football and basketball season. 

Blue and Yellow can be powerful colors, so I chose a bright yellow with gold tones and a deep navy to sooth the accent yellow. 

This palette is perfect for any time of the year, wether is be football fans celebrating their union in the fall or sailors tying the knot during the summer. It's a versatile color palette with white and yellow florals in season nearly all year long.

The Radiance of a Sunflower Wedding

The Sunflower signifies the end of summer and start of fall in my mental calendar when I start seeing their bright and large blooms fill bouquets at the local farmers market. All though the flower is now widely available all year long the growing season is typically July to September in the US. If you are an eco-minded bride and want the shine of these flowers in your wedding consider timing your nuptials with the sunflower growing season. 

The Sunflower is a wonderful choice for a wedding flower and ultimately, a theme. Mini sunflower blooms range in width from 1.25 inches to 3.5 inches, while large sunflowers range from 3 to 5.75 inches. If you are looking for a dominate flower and are on a limited budget, consider the sunflower for it's strength, beauty, and of course relatively cheap price. Stems run from $3.50 down depending on how many you order (whole sale prices from Whole Blossoms 9/2011). The great thing about a large flower is that it takes less blooms to make a statement in a centerpiece or bouquet.

My inspiration board takes advantage of the early fall season to incorporate the golden beauty of the sunflower with dark sage green, and brown accents. Sunflowers and barns go hand-in-hand in my head so a rustic, barn reception complete with tubs of beer gets the party started!

Friday Favorites - Chrysanthemums

Chrysanthemums remind me so much of fall and fall is definitely in the air! My father is a very passionate flower gardener, certainly where I picked up my love of all the things floral, and he adores mums. 

Each fall he has half dozen or so pots of gold, fire, and crimson mums gracing the steps of not only my childhood home, but the church steps he and my mother attend, my sister's home and I am sure my father's next visit to my apartment will bring a mum or two in tow. 

So why did the make my Friday Favorite list? Of course the reason above is simply enough, but I know everyone doesn't share the same sentimental memories as I do for this flower. The Chrysanthemum is in season during the fall and is an economical flower, huge benefits to your wallet and the environment. The mum is also a sturdy flower all the do-it-yourself brides that will be tying their own bouquets and comes in a large array of colors.

Ranch Inspired Lemon and Rose

A very good friend just got engaged and she wants to have a classy, country, farm affair in late summer. She mentioned hale bales, dahlias, milk bottles, mason jars, and the colors: green, pink, and yellow. This was my take on her ideas and I am sure I will have more ideas as her wishes evolve.

Springtime Romance: Pale Yellow and Light Pink

 I love the flowers in this board, 

Ranunculus and English Roses reign supreme. These flower lend an air of vintage romance, perfect for a warm spring evening.
